39/365- Bikini Rin Figure by Alter

31 12 2009

This was actually taken very early this morning before work, I just now got home and around to posting this ^^;  I decided to photograph her because  she is one of my favorite Rin figures and I haven’t photographed her with my newer camera yet.  I am not quite sure I ultimately decided to photograph her over new stuff today, I still have dolls that need photographing as well as figures. Hell I still have figures that I haven’t gotten around to deboxing just yet ^^; Maybe this weekend.

39/365

I have to say out of all the Fate/Stay Night characters my love for Rin, is only second to my love of Illyavasal. I have to say Alter did an absolutely stellar job on her, the figure really seems to capture Rin’s essence. I was lucky to pick her up off of Yahoo Japan a while back, I am really glad I went through all the effort to get her as she was really worth it in my opinion.

My littlest addiction- LPS

30 12 2009

The original idea is that I would pick up a Littlest Pet Shop pet for each of my Papins’ one that would suit each one’s different personality. Clementine being my favorite was the first to get a pet a Limited Edition Flamingo picked up at random during a Walmart run little did I know it would lead to this…
LPS Collection
I find it somewhat hard to believe that I now have almost 50 of the little buggers. Whenever I go to Walmart/Target/Toys R Us I find myself inexplicably digging through piles of them trying to find interesting ones. I find some comfort that I can blame Requiemart for some of this as she has a collection of them as well and I was kind of noticing hers and then I seen the flamingo on the shelf and it all went to hell from there. Beyond the ones I bought specifically for the Papins, there hasn’t really been any rhyme or reason behind buying which ones I actually did purchase. I just pick up the ones that appeal to me and have got a pretty good variety of animals now.
Clementine and Valentine
Hasbro decided to be mean and evil and make an elephant mail-away exclusive, elephants are probably my favorite animal so of course I had to get the six different stickers and the collector’s journal to mail away for one. The first of the three I ended up sending away for arrived today, yes three I had only intended to mail away for one but the stickers kept piling up on my desk so I picked up more of the journals and sent away for more ^^; I have to say this is the most ridiculously cute LPS ever. I intend to keep one boxed, open one to play with and I am undecided what I am going to do with the third one just yet.

38/365- Kino’s Journey- Kino by GSC

30 12 2009

Today was supposed to be my first day back at work, but somehow that didn’t happen ^^; I had a bit of a cooking mishap (re- I ended up playing fire fighter with dinner again) last night so I ended up calling in sick, I will definitely be going into work tomorrow though. Seeing how I managed to get the day off, I thought today might be a good day to photograph the December pullips and get started on writing the articles about them for Ningyou. Speaking of Ningyou the first issue should be getting to me fairly soon. I packed up the pullips and a couple of random figures and got dropped off at one of my normal photo locations not taking into account that it was 14 degrees outside today before windchill, never doing that one again.
Picture 1381
After accessing just how cold it was, I decided to start with photographing the two figures I brought along Kino of Kino’s Journey by Good Smile Company and Xecty Ein of Shining Wind by Kotobukiya. I ended up not even photographing the pullips today as after I had climbed around photographing Kino and Xecty, it was just too damn cold.
Kino
When I was choosing which figures to bring, I tried to think about the setting and that everything is looking a bit drab at the moment so I thought Kino might make an interesting subject. I ended up liking her photos so much I ended up choosing one of her’s as picture of the day even though I had taken a photo earlier for this purpose. I never watched much Kino’s Journey what I did see, I somehow just never got back around to watching it now I am kind of wanting to dig out the thinpak of the series now and blitz it all. The androgyny of Kino always made her a bit more interesting to me. it just seemed to add something to the character.

37/365- Evangelion 1/4 scale Rei by Aizu

28 12 2009

Today’s photo subject is another one of the figures I got for Christmas this year. She is Ayanami Rei of Neon Genesis Evangelion, normally I am more of an Asuka fan myself but in this case I made an exception. I acquired the matching 1/4 scale Asuka by Aizu earlier in the year and when I found out there was a corresponding Rei she moved pretty high up on my list of things to buy. When I finally deboxed her after Santa brought her, I was kind of horrified that she has body blushing on under her white bathing suit. Asuka had been blushed as well but it wasn’t as apparent as her bikini is not quite as transparent as Rei’s is. She is a nice figure when she is covered up with her towel but I sense leaning issues in the future, plus there is the more immediate issue of the Geo Front (where I keep my Evangelion figures) being full already so I am not entirely sure where she is going to go just yet.

Coming Soon- Doll Carnival Limited Chantilly

28 12 2009

I am very excited today as Chantilly, this year’s Doll Carnival limited is officially on her way. For those of you who don’t know, for the past three years Jun Planning/Groove Inc. has held a Doll Carnival during the fall/winter exhibiting new prototypes as well as custom dolls. So far there has also been a limited edition pullip or dal associated with the event every year, all three dolls have been limited to 300. The first doll carnival in 2007’s limited was Jouet, last year’s (2008) limited was Isolde a H.Naoto collaboration and this year’s limited was Chantilly, the Angelic Pretty collaboration. I find it kind of interesting that so far all three of them have been blond and all three of them have been linked to at least one other doll Jouet and Jolie are supposed to be a matched pair, Isolde and Adsitlia are effectively repaints of one another and Chantilly has an almost identical stock just in a different color as the Angelic Pretty Byul Cocotte (my French isn’t as good as it used to be but isn’t Cocette slang for whore?).

I was somewhat fortunate this year, as I did not have to jump through quite so many hoops as I have in past years and I didn’t have to pay quite as much as I have in past years either. I paid an astounding $800 for Jouet from VOTD as they were the only people selling her at the time (even on Yahoo Japan) at least they tossed in a free Jolie though ^^; I actually ended up buying two of last year’s limited Isolde, I have since sold one to a friend of mine but I paid almost $600 for the NRFB one and $350 for the OOB one that I kept (she was missing her purse though :/ ). Somehow Pullipstyle managed to get a few in stock, they have never have had the previous doll carnival limiteds thankfully unlike VOTD they do not I gauge their customers in price. I had discovered that they had Chantilly in stock for a reasonable price ($350) literally while looking over someone’s shoulder as they purchased my Aya and Sakura (who I still need to do write ups for ^^;) for me for Christmas. I panicked as I was kind of already down to the quick in my bank account (I refuse to let myself drop below a certain point) so I felt a bit cheeky and emailed pullipstyle. I have bought a lot of dolls from pullipstyle over the years, probably around 80 or so (I’ll do the actual math out later) so I decided to be a bit brazen and ask if the owner could do a hold for me until my paycheck came in this week. Much to my delighted surprise, the owner agreed to hold her until my paycheck came. Somehow Chantilly was paid off last night, miraculously before my paycheck even came in all I have to say is yay for late Christmas presents.
Chantilly
I got the tracking number for her via Fed Ex this morning, no expected delivery date as of yet (I will update this post when I get one though) although I was quite pleased to see an indirect signature is required, Fed Ex are crafty ninjas who don’t like to ring my doorbell and just leave packages on my front porch or worse yet show no sign they were ever here until I check the tracking number and see failed delivery attempt after I think the 3rd one they send it back, so I have had to drive up to their sorting facility over an hour away on more than one occasion to fetch a package because of it. I go back to work starting tomorrow and I was quite frightened poor Chantilly would catch her death of cold if she was left out on the porch all day (unlikely but it is below freezing outside the plastic could become brittle) or be kidnapped (more likely, stuff disappears around here all the time very rare for it to my stuff though as I tend to make sure the handymen who work on my building are regularly given cookies and such, so they tend to keep an eye out for my packages and bring them to the rental office. I am also the only resident to get my car dug out by the handymen after a snowstorm) but now at least I know she will be waiting for me in the rental office when I get home after work on some later day.
Chantilly
I already have a name picked out for Chantilly. I have a great affinity for Quentin Tarantino films even the ones he himself did not direct, but even the ones he just writes like True Romance (although I hate the way they butchered the soundtrack, I would have much preferred it the way it was originally written versus the one we ended up with). I had it in the back of my mind for a while that I would like to name a pullip (or dal), after the character Alabama but I never seemed to fit any of them but I think Chantilly will be the perfect match for the name. The song “Chantilly Lace” by the Big Bopper plays during one of the scenes (the phone booth/ sex scene that shortly follows) of True Romance, so I am taking it as a sign that Chantilly’s name should be Alabama. I have also decided my 2010 naming scheme for the dal will be places, 2008’s theme was food and 2009’s theme was alcohol so I decided to change things up a bit this time.

In other dolly news, I also have a NRFB Paja on the way from Yahoo Japan won in the very early hours of Christmas morning.

36/365- GSC Kureha Nendoroid and adventures in the real world

27 12 2009

Today’s picture of the day features my new Kureha nendoroid. As much as I love Kureha (I have the Max Factory, Kotobukiya & Eye Scream figures of her as well) I have to admit this is my least favorite figure of her, I barely got her out of her package and her bow snapped in half I was not putting any pressure on it or anything the damned box just snapped >_< Kureha’s eyes did not really seem to translate well into the larger scale, on a normal sized figure they look fine but on the nendoroid they look a bit dead. She’s a cute figure don’t get me wrong but I do feel a bit disappointed with her. Maybe a contributing factor was because this photo shoot was such a rush job as I didn’t get home until late tonight. I went to go see Avatar in the Providence Place mall and took advantage of the after Christmas sales ^^;

35/365- Chobits- LE and standard Chii(s) by Lilics

27 12 2009

I love Chobits, I am a big fan of Clamp’s work in general but the Chobits manga (one of the few cases where I prefer the manga to the anime) is my favorite of all of their works. I utterly adore Chii, I was kind of disappointed there were never that many figures of her out there I did manage to acquire a good chunk of all the merchandise though I’ve got everything from the poster box to the Sumomo tape and the drinking glasses. I had always wanted the Wonder Festival exclusive version of the Lilics figure of Chii, when it was hinted to me before Christmas that one of my gifts would be 1. Limited and 2. Pink I didn’t realize that had been meant I would be getting one of my grail figures from Santa this year. I very vividly remember bidding and losing on this figure years ago, finally giving up when the auction was north of the $300 mark.

35/365
Today’s picture of the day features both the limited version and the regular release of the Art Storm/ Lilics Chii figure. I liked how they looked together so I could resist snapping a few pictures, I had a hard time choosing whether I liked the picture I ended up choosing or this one better…
Chobits figures
So I decided to post them both.

Kanon figures in the snow

25 12 2009

There is still a ton of snow on the ground so I decided to take advantage for even more photos today. Deciding to go back out into the snow also meant that I had to decide what it was I wanted to photograph. While looking frantically through my various shelves of figures, looking for what few Christmas or at least winter themed figures I had, I happened upon two Kanon figures. Ayu and Makoto seemed like excellent candidates to go play out in the snow today. Both figures were made by Max Factory a while back (a couple of years ago now) and I am pretty sure I was lucky enough to have preordered them as I don’t remember any fierce bidding wars for them ^^;

Makoto
I always preferred the Makoto figure over the Ayu figure, something about Ayu’s facial expression always kind of bothered me. I absolutely adore the Makoto figure, she is just too cute.

Darling Ryomou wanted to help out with the Christmas decorations today so I decided to make one of the pictures that I took of her today, the picture of the day for today.

You can see in the background of this one a case of pullips arrived via Fed Ex this morning, it’s bad sign when they have to shipped in cases right?
